Top 10 Movies of all Time (by opinion)

This is a hard list, but know that I'm doing it by my own opinion. I'll make a sequel list sometime soon.
10. Blade Runner

This is one of the best sci fi movies of all time and is truly Ridley Scott's mastepiece. Only until James Cameron makes a movie this good will it be considered his masterpiece. (Aliens could possibly stand up to this though I forgot to add it.) It's about a future police cop who kills evil machines called replicants, until he is given one final job. He has to "retire" five replicants who have ties to their creator himself. A excellent movie with a great soundtrack and amazing special effects for their time.
9. Raiders of the Lost Ark

Harrison Ford is one of the coolest actors around. This movie has to be the greatest adventure movie of all time and is a true classic. The story involves Archaeology professor Indiana Jones, who is way more into archaeology than being a professor, as he attempts to hunt down the ark of the covenant during World War II. This movie has it all: Nazis, a beautiful girl, great sidekicks, a fantastic villain, and a great plot. You simply must see it.
8. Forrest Gump

Lets face it, I cried in this movie. I have never cried in a movie outside of Pixar before and this is completely different. I'd say what got me the most was when Lietenant Dan thanked him for saving his life and when he's talking to Jenny at her grave. If you haven't seen this movie yet you simply have to. It's a movie about a man with below average inteliigence who just happens to be the smartest man around him. He experiences every defining moment of the 20th century. It's a movie about life, and the love that comes with it.
7. Inception

If you have read my blog before, you know how into this movie I truly am. This movie could rival even Blade Runner for the spot as the best science fiction movie of all time, and it is a modern classic. Leo Dicaprio is great and Chris Nolan directs beautifully plus a great soundtrack from Hans Zimmer make this movie amazing.
6. The Lord of the Rings Trilogy tied with The Boune Trilogy

One trilogy some of the greatest fantasy movies of all time, the other some of the greatest action movies of all time. These trilogies have been some of the biggest properties of the past ten years. With great heroes, great ladies, and amazing villians, these trilogies shine. The one moment I like the most in The Lord of the Rings is when Gandalf tells Frodo that Gollum will have a lot to do with coming events in the first one, and the moment when Bourne repeats what the first assassin said to him in the third one. I love these movies.
5. Watchmen

Watchmen is the best superhero movie of all time, minus The Dark Knight (later on the list). This movie is simply brilliant. He filmed the unfilmable, making a fantastic movie. This movie will be appreciated more with further viewings. Just watch this movie, great actors, fantastic plot, amazing questions of morality. What a good film.
3. Fight Club

Well, the first rule of Fight Club is you don't talk about Fight Club, so I'll just say that this movie is a phenomanon, and when i have a boy I'm naming him Tyler after Mr. Durden.
2. Tie: Empire strikes back and Dark Knight

The two greatest movie sequels of all time other than the Godfather part II which I haven't seen. These movies are strictly amazing. The first, possibly the most classic sci fi of all time, the second a modern superhero classic. The perfomance of the Joker in the Dark Knight killed Heath Ledger it's so good, and the performance of Darth in Empire and his classic line are just so great.

Wondering if I could top these, well I can! The prize for my favorite movie of all time goes to...

1. Donnie Darko

Yes a highly controversial choice, but I'm a high school student so what do I know. This movie is simply the best of all time. The best script, music, acting, and plot ever. Donnie's choice at the end is probably the best part of the entire film, and the wave between Gretchen and Donnie's mother is such a perfect way to end this film.
Honorable Mentions:
L.A. Confidential
Die Hard
The Sixth Sense
Kick Ass
Anchorman
Reservoir Dogs
Inglouies Basterds
and The Hangover!
Oh, and Memento

Bonus: Drive

Drive just came out, but it is the type of movie that I could see being amazing after several rewatches. It's already a fantastic movie, with a FANTASTIC score, but this could rank up with Fight Club and Donnie Darko in my book

Top 10 Reasons the Star Wars prequels werent that bad.

10. CGI

The Prequels have often been criticized for their over use of cgi. But onestly I think that it really isn't that bad. Take the above image of Coruscant. The original films wouldn't be able to do something like this.
9. Natalie Portman
Padmé Amidala image not available.
As the princess who took Darth Vader's heart, she was truly beautiful. If you think that she was bad in this trilogy there is something truly wrong with you. She is one of the hottest girls in the world and she can act. A great combo.
8. Darth Maul

The most badass sith of all time. Not even Darth Vader came this close. He was the pure embodiment of evil. He never talked, had a red and black face, and a kickass double bladed lightsaber. He was the thing that saved the first movie.
7. Revenge of the Sith is as good as A New Hope and better than all the other movies. (Except Empire)

This movie was amazing. It had a great beginning and a fantastic ending. Tieing up the rest of the series. (We'll get to that later.) It was truly a great movie.
6. Any movie with Samuel L. Jackson can't be that bad.

Playing Mace "Purple Bladed Lightsaber" Windu, he was one badass jedi. He was the second best next to Yoda and was strong in his lightsaber ways. He almost killed the emperor.
5. We finally get to see Yoda in action.

Yoda is a boss. In both he strolls in and shows a great apitude for the force. But he also has major skills with a lightsaber. This was totally kickass.
4. Qui Gon Jinn

Liam Neeson is one of the most badass and most effective killers in cinema history. Taken is a very good movie. He's also a good actor too. He plays Obi Wan's master wisley but also has skills with a saber.
3. The end of Revenge of the Sith

A totally awesome ending to a great movie. It tied up Luke Leia Obi wan Yoda Vader and The Emperor greatly. The end before the credits was good.
2. Duel between Anakin and Obi Wan

The best duel in the prequel movies by far. Just a great scene. It's so heartbreaking when Obi Wan is talking to Anakin at the end. Just so sentimental of the prequel movies. You can really tell the relationship between Anakin and his former master turned enemy Obi Wan.
1. Ewan Mcgregor

His performance as Obi Wan was really the selling point of these movies for me. He was fantastic. A worthy successor to Alec Guinness.

My own opinion on the stupid modern warfare 3 vs. battlefield 3 debate

You people know how i feel about Call of Duty. I think it's taking over the world and that their are better and more intelligent games, such as Bioshock and Mass Effect 2. But I recently replayed the Modern Warfare 2 campaign and I have a new opinion. I think that it is stupid that it's taking over the game space, but they aren't bad games. Not at all.

So I have something to say about the Cod vs. Battlefield debate.

This November, two of the biggest shooters are going head to head. It's like Bears vs. Packers, Texas vs. Oklahoma, Coke vs. Pepsi. It's gonna be a western type showdown. At least that's what everybody thinks.

But in my opinon there willl be no real clear winner. Modern Warfare 3 will more than likely be higher in sales than battlefield, because of the extremely high number of COD players. But Battlefield won't be too far behind. There will be no clear winner. There's a couple of rivalry examples I can bring in. They are Coke vs Pepsi and Dell vs Apple. People may prefer one over the other, but neither will ever lose. I think that as long as both are quality games and are fun to play, they will both win. My money is going to go towards modern warfate but that is only because i have only played COD and i really like the modern warfare characters. But I will get Battlefield off of gamefly so i will play both.

In the end, I really hope that they are both good games and that they have great stories. Not that I can say that one is better than the other and know that it's true.

People to People 2011: Celtic Heritage

Got back Tuesday from the British Isles. Great trip. I can't decide on a defining country for this trip. England was amazing with the contrast with the awesome city of London, my second time there and second time in the Jury's Inn hotel (Great, by the way) and the beautiful English countryside. Scotland was fantastic with it's highlands and the hostel. Wales was great because it was coastel and the castles were real cool. And finally Ireland was fabulous because of the landscape and the activites. Friends were cool this time around too. Kate, Jack, Ike, Sofi, Peli, Logan, Racer, Rebel, Jacob, and all the rest. I sure do miss everyone. Not to mention eddy. This trip went by WAY too fast though. It felt like one week instead of three. Nevertheless, It was a great trip full of awesome friends and amazing experiences. Well worth the cash.

Girls

I love girls. I love every part of them. I like the hot ones more, but the normal ones are just fine. They are great people and I would love to have one. I hope I can get a girlfriend sometime in the near future. It's May now, so I doubt it would be during school, but anytime is great. Girls, the best thing on Earth.

Super 8 Trailer

This looks like the best thing Spielberg has done in a very long time and Abrams is an awesome director so this is going to be great.

Awesome Movie Trailers

This week had some great trailers. Here look at the ones for X Men Harry Potter and Immortals.

Tell me these don't spell epic. They are all great trailers.

Bioshock Review

Bioshock is destined to be one of the defining experiences of gaming. It starts with a helicopter crash in the ocean, and ends in a way that ties it all together. The opening sequence and descent into Rapture I will always remember. Andrew Ryan was one of the best characters I have ever seen and his death was disturbing. The twist at the end suprised me, and your true relationship with Ryan was awesome. The best characters were obviously Ryan and Fontaine, but the Big Daddy and Little Sisters were aweome charactors too. Rapture is a beautiful yet horrifying city and the graphics continue too hold up, even to this day.

The one thing I hated about this game was near the end, when you were extremely low on ammo and health packs, and had to fight to survive. The ending fight also was a dissapointment, I thought it ended too quickly. All in all, Bioshock was an awesome game. It had awesome characters, awesome visuals, and an amazing story. I need to do another top game list. I'd give it a 9.3 out of 10.

What to do when Bored (Physical Activity is key)

I have blogged multiple times about being bored. Now, don't think that last night I magically had something to do, I didn't, but there are several options about what to do when bored.

I have found some sites with awesome activities to do that night or over the weekend (when your an only child it can easily be both) chech them out!
http://www.bored.com/boredthings/
http://www.urban75.org/useless/bored.html

I for one have a couple things I turn to when I'm bored. These almost always include movies and xbox, but going outside is an awesome thing to do.

To fight boredom, the best thing you could possibly do is to go outside. You play and get physical activity. This can stimulate your body, making you feel better. You don't have a headache like you do when you play Call of Duty for two hours.

Websites for stuff to do when you outside.
http://www.visitidaho.org/children-in-nature/assets/documents/101thingstodooutside-flyer.pdf
http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index?qid=20090616121425AA0W9pk

So going outside is often fun and awesome, when you have someone to do it with. Lets consider you don't have any siblings, like me, and you have no one. What do you do? Call a friend!

Stuff to do with your friends:
http://teenadvice.about.com/od/entertainment/a/free_things_to_do_for_teens.htm
http://www.discoverfun.com/freeinfo/500fun/friends.html

Now video games are still very fun, but I hate Call of Duty, it's true. I find it to be a game with almost no purpose other than to blow stuff up and shoot things. So I play games that stimulate your mind. Two I can think of are Portal 2 and the upcoming L. A. Noire. These games make you think to win.

Games to play other than Call of Duty
http://www.neoseeker.com/forums/30444/t1632660-fun-multi-player-games-that-aren-call-of-duty/
Mass Effect 2
Batman: Arkham Asylum
Oblivion
Mario
Zelda
Kirby
Donkey Kong
Portal and Portal 2
Red Dead Redemption
Bioshock and Bioshock 2
The list goes on and on...

So there are games other than Call of Duty, that has been established. The best idea of being bored is to something extremely fun and unique, usually with company. Hopefully you can get excercise too!

Bored (again)

My parents took away my xbox again so I can't play online and I can't play Portal or Bioshock. I wasn't invited to my friend's party and I didn't go to the school thing, so I'm not doing anything either. If anyone has any ideas at all I would love it if you could help me out and find me something to do. I can't watch movies all weekend.

Top 10 Movie Songs and Themes

I have decided to do a list of the top 10 movie songs from scores. This means work by Hans Zimmer, Danny Elfman, John Williams, and Howard Shore. I love movie scores, so this is a hard list for me.
10. Injection by Hans Zimmer: Mission Impossible 2

So epic and full of win. Much like all of Zimmer's work. But this one is unique for making the second the best in the series.
9. Where is my Mind? The Pixies: Fight Club

One of the defining qualities of the music on this list is there from great movies. This defined the ending of one of my favorite movies of all time.
8. Godfather Theme: The Godfather

Although I haven't seen this film(seriously) I have heard this song and The Godfather is considered one of the greatest films of all time. This is one of the most beautiful and tragic movie themes.
7. Shawshank Redemption Stoic Theme: The Shawshank Redemption

Probably the best film of all time in my opinion, The Shawshank Redemption is truly a hallmark of both american cinema and shows just how talented Stephen King truly is. The theme is perfect and tragic.
6. Back to the Future Theme: Back to the Future

Back to the Future is a perfect movie. It's funny and awesome at the same time. The theme has embedded itself in my mind forever.
5. Old Souls, Dream is Collapsing, and Time tie: Inception

By far the best movie of 2010 and the best science fiction movie since 2009's Star Trek, the soundtrack of this film is one of Hans Zimmer's many masterpieces. It would be too hard to debate over which track is truly the best so I cheated and threw them all in there.
4. Batman Theme and Why so Serious?: Batman and The Dark Knight

Both are awesome themes but one is old and one is new. They both beat the now iconic batman tv show theme.
3. Indiana Jones Theme

Classic. One of William's best themes.
2. Halloween Theme

Scary thrilling fun. Whenever it kicks in you know someone will die.
1. Star Wars Theme

The theme that defines movies as we know it. One of the best and obviously a classic. It's definitly my favorite.
Honorable Mentions
Superman

Harry Potter

Spiderman

Old Souls

Allthough I think that all of the Inception is fantastic, the track Old Souls is the one that connects it the most to the films Blade Runner and 2001, the two finest science fiction films of all time.(other than Empire, but find out more in my countdown.) Here listen to it...

When you listen to this track it really makes you think of the dystopian society of Blade Runner or the cold clean architecture of 2001. This ranks in my favorite movie songs.

My Europe Trip

This summer I'm returning to Europe, this time to explore the British Isles. I'm going to Ireland, Scotland, England, and Wales. Here's an itinerary of my trip so keep posted.

This summer I'm returning to Europe, this time to explore the British Isles. I'm going to Ireland, Scotland, England, and Wales. Here's an itinerary of my trip so keep posted.

Backpack across the World

When I grow up, I would love to be able to go backpacking across the world. This goal would definitly cost quite a bit of money, but would be an experience to remember. To walk the Great Wall, or to be able to experience Austrailia, would be quite a thrill. I have gone across the world several times before, but this would be both mentally and physically challenging but definitly rewarding. I would forget the material things in life such as movies and video games, and experience phenomal things I would never forget.

But I would also like to be able to join the Armed Forces of the United States, and estingush all pain from my body. I would like to joing a spec ops team and see the world on missions they send me on. Only then would I be full in life.

Blade Runner Movies

Every decade needs a Blade Runner. A unique science fiction film that reminds us why we go to the movies. Here are my picks.
90's

The Matrix
2000's

Children of Men
2010's (so far)

Inception
There are many others. I definitly would have included Fight Club and Watchmen, but I would classify them as drama and superhero respectively.

Limitless Review

Like a breath of fresh air, Limitless is a break to the horrible spring time for movies and is a prelude to the Summer blockbusters. It stars Bradley Cooper as Eddie Morra, a writer who suffers from writer's block. (don't we all?) He starts taking a pill that enables him to use his entire brain, and he starts good for a while. But then he starts zoning out and strange people start to stalk him. This is a clever thriller, that sometimes starts to get a little long. Other than that though, it's great. The best actor in the entire movie is probably Cooper, depicting the side affects of the drug perfectly, but is suffers from some poorly executed plot twists, and some boring sections. In the end, I would compare this film to the film RED, for good acting and funny parts, but also bad twists and severly long sections. This film deserves a B.

hey I'm back

Yeah I got back yesterday from Colorado, and it was awesome. I've been doing nothing all day and all I'm interested in doing is skiing. I'm on Netflix, found out you can watch Jimmy Neutron, an amazing show from my childhood, and I'm watching Hellboy. In the first scene there is an incredibly badass assassin who kills like six americans with a pistol, a PISTOL, those guns take like four shots a guy if Call of Duty tells the truth. And then when he runs out of ammo he does the wolverine and two swords come out of his arm, the only bad thing is he's a Nazi.

bored

Im in Spanish class and I already finished my part of my project in like ten minutes and now I'm insanely bored. I have no idea what to do so I'm blogging. One of my group members is funny and cool but sort of annoying, one is smart and nice, and the other is normal. (mostly) I need to find something to do in the next five minutes or I'll like, die.

Batman Film Review

I have decided to review all of the Batman films and give them awards. These are mostly great films and it's my opinion, so don't get mad. I left out the Batman TV movie because I haven't seen it in a while and I don't remember it.
1. Batman

An emo film that's actually pretty good. The first two were the best until Nolan and they are still great.
2. Batman Returns

The sequel is just as good as the original. Good performances and a great soundtrack make this better than the two films that followed.
3. Batman Forever

Um what is this? The first two posters show great dark films that have to be good and now this?... Although this film wasn't as good as the first two films, it was still definitly better than Batman and Robin, our next film.
4. Batman and Robin

Now here is the most infamous of them all. Voted as one of the worst films of all time. I mean, look at this poster. On one side you have the heroes, where the men have bat nipples, and on the other you have the villians, look at Bane in the corner. How could he recover? This film is just plain out bad. It seemed this series was driven into ground, and nothing could save it. That is until...
5. Batman Begins

The reboot. This was the film we had wanted since Batman Returns. A return to the original days of Batman, when he was a ninja and had some deep personality issues. Every performance is great and an amazing cliffhanger ending. We were all waiting for the next film, but we were all thinking "how could they top that?"
6. The Dark Knight

This is the one to top. A amazing film filled to the brim with tour de force performances and a great story. Most of it's elements come from the grapic novel The Long Halloween, an already great Batman story. One of the best performances of all time by Heath Ledger who topped Jack Nicholson as the Joker.
Bonus: Batman Triumphant

Develop as a sequel to Batman and Robin, it was supposed to have Scarecrow as the main villian and have the Joker return in Batman's fear dreams. Harley Quinn was supposed to also be in it, as the Joker's daughter. It was cancelled due to the failure of Batman and Robin.
Awards
Best Batman: Christian Bale

The best Batman is Christian Bale. The only other contender was Michael Keaton, but Bale wins due to his performance in the Dark Knight.
Best Female Lead: Maggie Gylenhall

She showed real heart as Rachel, and Katie Holmes was beaten easily. She portrays this greatly.
Best Bat Film: The Dark Knight

Is there any other?
Best Bat Villian: Heath Ledger

One of the greatest performances of all time.
Worst Bat Film: Batman and Robin

Also one of the worst movies of all time.
Worst Bat Villian: Ahnold

Let's Chill! Funny one liners and horrible villiiounous acts almost ruin this character.
Worst Batman: George Clooney

Not that he's a bad actor, but he was just NOT meant for this role. He probably could have pulled off Freeze though, maybe.
Best Alfred: Michael Caine

The father to Bruce Wayne, Caine pulls off this role beautyfully, with unexpected grace.
Worst Alfred: The one who has the disease

Although if he was in the first two I apologise, he was bad in Batman and Robin.
Best Supporting Role: Tie between Gary Oldman and Arron Eckhart

Both filled with unexpected grace.
Worst Supporting Role: Bane

Wow. And he is still a great character.
Best Ending: The Dark Knight

An amaing ending.
